Terms of Service

1. Agreement to these terms

By creating an account or using StudyLedger (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

StudyLedger is currently operated independently, not through a registered company. Read alongside these terms is our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use StudyLedger. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. Your account

  • You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
  • You're responsible for the accuracy of the academic and application data you enter — StudyLedger is a tracking tool, not an official academic record.

4. The Service

StudyLedger provides tools to track university units, assessments, calculate your Weighted Average Mark (WAM), and manage graduate job applications. A free tier is available with no card required. A paid Pro tier ($5 AUD/month) unlocks additional features including AI transcript import and unit guide import.

WAM calculations, grade projections, and AI-extracted data are estimates and tools to assist you — they are not official results from your university. You are responsible for verifying grades and academic standing against your university's official records. We are not liable for decisions made based on figures calculated or imported through the Service.

AI-powered import features (transcript import, unit guide import) use third-party AI models to extract information from documents and web pages you submit. Extraction may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete — always review imported data before relying on it.

5. Subscriptions and payment

  • Pro is billed at $5 AUD/month via Stripe, on a recurring monthly basis until cancelled.
  • You can cancel anytime from Settings; your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period, and you won't be charged again after cancelling.
  • All payments are non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us and we'll look into it.
  • We may change Pro pricing with notice; changes won't apply retroactively to a billing period you've already paid for.

6. Referral program

Referral rewards (extended free trial periods for both the referrer and the new user) are provided at our discretion and may be modified, paused, or withdrawn at any time. We reserve the right to deny or reverse referral credit obtained through fraudulent signups or abuse of the program.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data without authorisation
  • Attempt to circumvent, probe, or disrupt the security or availability of the Service
  • Use automated means to scrape, bulk-extract, or abuse the Service or its AI-powered features beyond normal personal use
  • Upload content you don't have the right to upload (e.g. someone else's transcript)

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

8. Your content

You retain ownership of the academic and application data you enter into StudyLedger. You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display that data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. If you enable the public WAM share card, you control when that specific summary becomes visible to others via a shareable link.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that calculations, grade projections, or AI-extracted data will be perfectly accurate. Nothing in these terms excludes any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StudyLedger is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to academic outcomes, missed deadlines, or decisions made based on WAM calculations or AI-imported data. Nothing in this section limits liability in ways not permitted under the Australian Consumer Law.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised terms. We'll update the “last updated” date above when changes are made.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
